JPB Capital Partners Purchases Controlling Interest in ZIPS Dry Cleaners

JPB Capital Partners announced a strategic investment in Value Drycleaners of America, LLC, the parent company of ZIPS Franchising, LLC, (“ZIPS”), one of the largest franchisors of retail dry cleaners in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. This investment represents the firm’s first investment from its third buyout fund.

ZIPS began in 1996 with a group of eight dry cleaners in the zip_jpbcapBaltimore-Washington region and has grown to 36 franchise operations in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington, DC.  ZIPS offers dry cleaning and laundry services to customers according to a differentiated system including on-premise cleaning, competitive flat-rate pricing, same-day services, and, a highly efficient, integrated production process.

At CES 2013, nation-wide media channels rolled out the red carpet treatment for HealthSpot and their innovative technology applications for healthcare services. A heavy buzz surrounded the company at the show and had press circling their DisplayWorks-produced exhibit as they garnered interest from the likes of The Weather Channel, Wired Magazine, Yahoo Finance, eWeek, Med Gadget, AOL News, and Business First.

DisplayWorks-designed booth awarded “Best in Show” at CES 2013

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) always features the newest and hottest tech gadgets around. LifeProof – a DisplayWorks client and up-and-coming industry leader of mobile device covers – did just that.

However, they managed to feature their hottest iPad and iPhone protective cases in such a creative way that made iLounge.com—a local online authority for all things Apple—stop in their tracks, and award the booth “Best of Show” at CES 2013.

The DisplayWorks-designed 40’ x 40’ custom island rental made great use of its space on the show floor as well as provided CES attendees with a chance to see LifeProof products in action. DisplayWorks “Nails” It!

A jar full of nails and a unique spin on a guessing game was enough to spark the interest of Exhibitor Magazine, who mentioned DisplayWorks’ in-booth activity for HCEA in the “Ideas that Work” section of their December 2012 issue.

As part of our philanthropic efforts, we built a playhouse to be donated to the Children’s Center at the University of New Orleans. In order to enhance the spirit of giving as well as draw in more traffic to our booth at the 2010 Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association Annual Meeting, we invited the attendees of the show to actively participate in this charitable cause.

We sent out a pre-show mailer indicating that there would be a jar filled with an unidentified amount of nails on display at the DisplayWorks booth and urged show attendees to come and make a guess as to the amount.  The playhouse would then be donated to the Children’s Center in the name of the person whose guess was closest to the actual number of nails.

A game-winning guess came in at 434; there were 439 nails in the jar!  The name behind this lucky guess was featured on a commemorative plaque that was attached to the playhouse before it made the journey to New Orleans.

Columbia, MD – December 14, 2012 – JPB Partners announced construction has begun on three new 25-unit apartment buildings at Victoria Falls near Laurel in Prince George’s County, Maryland.  Formal groundbreaking ceremonies were held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 involving the development companies, builder, elected officials and members of the Victoria Falls community.

JPB Partners has joined with the KB Company to develop the new buildings which will mirror in size and architectural design the existing 7 multi-family buildings that were developed earlier as condominiums.  Covering more than 100 acres of land, Victoria Falls is an active adult community comprised of single-family detached homes, villa homes and condominiums.  The 75 units in the new apartment buildings will bring to 609 the total number of residential units in this 8-year old community.  The planned community of Victoria Falls also includes a Clubhouse, Fitness Center, indoor and outdoor Swimming Pools, Tennis Hardcourts and a variety of other amenities for residents.  Harkins Builders of Ellicott City is building the three new structures.
